Problems with Morningside T3 supply?? Just been told by pharmacist that they have stopped making it.

Have just been to collect my latest T3 prescription to be told that pharmacist could not source the Morningside tablets as they have stopped making it. Have been offered Teva instead.

Just to put some context in here: I had specifically requested Morningside as I was sick of struggling with the ridiculously short use by margin on Mercury Pharma (see previous posts if interested). Did manage to get Morningside for my last prescription (September), and have been fine with them. Wondering now what's going on. Have Morningside decided to pull out from T3 manufacture in the light of the latest news developments (i.e., Concordia and provisional CMA ruling).

Perfectly happy to give Teva a go, just rather perplexed at what is going on with Morningside.

Apologies if someone has already posted on this matter. Did check through previous posts and couldn't see anything.

Can anyone shed any light on this please?

No reason for CMA action against Concordia to affect Morningside or Teva.

Why don't you contact Morningside Healthcare customer services for confirmation. Pharmacist often say such and such is no longer being produced simply because they have been unable to order it. It's probably a distribution issue. Morningside will be able to help you obtain supplies if so.

Panic over. Someone got in touch with me from Morningside and confirmed that they ARE still making it, but once again said that if I used Boots I would be able to get it.

Why is supply so "stitched up"?

What a shame your pharmacist didn't have the wit to check with Morningside him/herself. It was only a phone call for goodness sake.

Over the years we have seen a large number of posts reporting what a pharmacist said:

"They've stopped making it."

"You can't get that make in this size."

"It has been recalled."

In my view, causing concern in patients, possibly supplying a less suitable product, and simply saying things that are not true should all be against any pharmacists' code of conduct.

"I don't know why we didn't receive any." - although not exactly helpful would at least (possibly) be honest. Just goes to show that we have to take every such statement with suspicion until proved to be true. And all too often, we have seen the flow of accurate information being from here towards pharmacists.
