Before focusing on eating, it would be a good idea to focus on optimising your FT3, because if your T3 is low, nothing is going to make you lose weight. And, if you don't eat enough carbs, you will compromise your conversion, and make yourself more hypo. So, be careful.

No, I wouldn't agree. Weight gain is a clinical symptom of hypothyroidism and probably the first symptom many notice before they are diagnosed.
When we get to an optimum dose, or thyroid hormones that suit us weight can reduce naturally.
