Hi Niki222, welcome to the forum.

I'm afraid the hard truth is that you're unlikely ever to feel well on 25 mcg levo. It's not even a starter dose. How long have you been on it?

The results you've given tell us that you have Hashi's, an autoimmune disease where the immune system attacks the thyroid and slowly destroys it. So, your hypo is likely to get worse. There is no cure for Hashi's, the only thing you can do is to adopt a 100% gluten-free diet, and take selenium, in an attempt to lower antibodies. But, as your thyroid is already damaged, you, you do need to take enough thyroid hormone to replace what your thyroid can no-longer produce. And 25 mcg levo is unlikely to be enough.

Do you have any other results? TSH, FT4, FT3?

Been on 25mcg since today. Was on 150mcg before that

TSH 5.6 (0.2 - 4.2)

Free T4 13.7 (12 - 22)

Free T3 3.5 (3.1 - 6.8)

Why on earth has your dose been dropped from 150mcg to 25mcg? Your results above say that you are very undermedicated, and levothyroxine should only ever be increased or reduced 25mcg at a time.

Thanks for reply. Endo says I am too thin to be hypothyroid and wants me to gain weight

Your endo is an idiot. Not everyone who is hypothyroid gains weight. Can you see someone else? You are going to start to feel very unwell with a rapid dose reduction like that. God this makes me really angry!

Endo is an idiot! Being under-weight can also be a hypo symptom. Does he really believe that you can't be hypo because of your weight when your blood test results say you have Hashi's? Be careful of this man! He will make you very ill!

Your endo is an idiot then. Lots of people are thin BECAUSE they are hypothyroid

You are very under medicated now

Have you been tested for coeliac disease? An endoscopy is only reliable test

Have you had vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 tested since dose of Levo reduced

How long since dose dropped

Were you on T3 before ?

Hashimoto's affects the gut and leads to low vitamin levels

Low vitamin levels stop Thyroid hormone working

Poor gut function can lead leaky gut (literally holes in gut wall) this can cause food intolerances. Most common by far is gluten

According to Izabella Wentz the Thyroid Pharmacist approx 5% with Hashimoto's are coeliac, but over 80% find gluten free diet helps significantly. Either due to direct gluten intolerance (no test available) or due to leaky gut and gluten causing molecular mimicry (see Amy Myers link)

But don't be surprised that GP or endo never mention gut, gluten or low vitamins. Hashimoto's is very poorly understood

Changing to a strictly gluten free diet may help reduce symptoms, help gut heal and slowly lower TPO antibodies
