Does Thyroid uk offer advice on the phone?

My lovely Aunty who is in her late sixties. Told me six years ago the Dr said she had a thyroid problem. I advised her to get a copy of her blood test results and post them on thyroid uk. The dr told her "he would keep an eye on it" and she said she would wait and see what the Dr said. Six years later her thyroid has swollen to twice it's normal size she has osteoporosis, lichen planus , now something wrong with her eyes. no matter what I say to her she will wait and see what the Dr says. So is there anyone she can phone for advice?. I know Diane Holmes used to offer a phone service. I even told her to have the d102 test the response is wait and see what the endocrinologist says. I do not want to see her going the same way as my dad who has dementia .I have tried desperately to help many member of my family but nobody listens, it is very depressing so I will have to try a different way.She has not been given any medication at all.

Bobbyb,

Thyroid UK won't give individual medical advice. There's very little you can do if your aunt won't even post a copy of her thyroid results for a second opinion. Do advise her to see an optician about her eyes though. I'm surprised her GP didn't tell her to see an optician.

Yes , i'm going round in circles. I suppose it's the mentality that the Dr knows best. She won't ask for a print out. It's quite depressing watching somebody deteriorate before your eyes. She has blepharitus , she did see the optician and it is thyroid related. I have been here before with the rest of my family.

Bobbyb,

I've been shocked at how passive some people can be about their health and how reluctant they can be to inform themselves, preferring to believe that doctor knows best.

I even told her to have the d102 test
