I've been suffering and in pain for over 6 years now with no relief. I have horrible, pain, swelling and fatigue. 3 years ago the tsh was 3.8. I finally got rested and my thyroid was

ComponentYour ValueStandard RangeFlag

TSH5.82 uIU/mL0.27 - 4.2 uIU/mLH

FREE T4 REFLEXIVE1.28 ng/dL0.9 - 1.7 ng/dL

ALT48 U/L10 - 35 U/LH.

Everything else in normal range. I'm afraid I'm going to be brushed off for subclinical hypothyroism and get no relief again... 6 years is a long time and I'm tired of feeling horrible .

Welcome to the forum, Phoenix91357.

TSH 5.82 is over range so your GP should treat you. TSH between 5-10 is subclinical but technically you should be asymptomatic when subclinical. You are symptomatic so ask your GP to trial you on Levothyroxine.

Mildly elevated ALT is unlikely to be significant if the rest of your liver profile was normal. labtestsonline.org.uk/under...

Ask your GP to check ferritin, vitamin D, B12 and folate which are often low/deficient in hypothyroid patients and which can cause symptoms similar to hypothyroidism.
