Indian gynecologist says TSH 3.96 won't affect the conception

Ladies,

what do I do? I have asked gynecologist in India and she says my level is prefect won't affect the conception, she says exactly what my GP says..

Am going mad, I actually thought if my GP ignore me ,I can get the tablets from India. But after the conversation with her ,I feel like how could I get the prescription. Though we can get the tablets there easily but just wondering why all doctors even the gynecologist are saying this is normal , as its with in the range and wont affect the conception. I had a feeling GP ignores as Thyroid tablets are expensive here but I thought Indian doctors would agree me.

You may conceive with a TSH of 3.96 but you would probably have a difficult pregnancy. Your body would be struggling.

OMG really? am already struggling with out pregnancy...I have blood test next week and I need to wait for that...hope somethings changes..

If your body is struggling now, imagine if your body had an additional 'mouth to feed' in utero. Get yourself well first. I conceived (in 1980!) and didn't know I had hypothyroid. I had had 4 miscarriages previously and for this 5th pregnancy I had decided to have 8 months bed rest. I got through the pregnancy, but then my hypo (turned out to be Hashimotos) really kicked in when my son was born. It was like post natal psychosis. Pregnancy and birth can bring on thyroid illness so if you know already, get your body ready for pregnancy. Good luck

I was only diagnosed when my son was 8 months old. My TSH was 75. That figure was firmly embedded in my brain I hadn't felt totally well since my early 20's, I had my son aged 29, so my thyroid had been going down slowly but surely all those years. However my GP prescribed T4 only, and the sorry saga started. Read my profile !
