I would like information on anyone who has had surgery for partial thyroidectomy and would love to hear about the recovery time and what to eat and drink after the surgery.

Partial thyroidectomy
Bebe9123,
You'll probably be advised to take a couple of weeks off work to recover. I had very little post-op pain but the hospital were generous with pain relief in hospital and to take home. I don't think I needed pain relief after the 3rd or 4th day.
It is advisable to have soups and soft foods available to eat for a few days after surgery in case your throat is sore. I had no problems swallowing and was eating sandwiches in the evening after surgery and weetabix the next morning. Drinking plenty of fluids will help flush the general anaesthetic from your system.
I had my whole thyroid removed in Oct 2015. Before I went in I stocked up with plenty of organic baby food it was a brilliant way to swallow also mashed bananas. I drunk plenty of mineral water to flush out my system.
I never took any painkillers although usually the hospital supply you with some before you leave. Good Luck.
