Thyroid issues
Welcome to our forum and the menstrual cycle can be upset due to the lack of hormones which hypothyroidism causes.
First, you have to give us some background. If you've not put it in your Profile you can copy and paste it later on.
When were you diagnosed with hypothyroidism?
What dose of levothyroxine are you taking?
Do you have a print-out/copy of your latest blood test results? If so post them with the ranges.
When your blood tests are due, usually every six weeks when newly diagnosed with a 25mcg increase every six weeks till you are symptom-free. Unfortunately many doctors stop increasing when the TSH is in the range but we need a TSH of 1 or lower with a Free T4 and Free T3 in the upper part of the range. The latter two are rarely tested.
All blood tests for thyroid hormones have to be at the very earliest possible, fasting (you can drink water) and allow a gap of 24 hours from your last dose and the test and take afterwards.
Always get a print-out of your results with the ranges. We are entitled to them by Law but sometimes we have to pay a nominal sum for paper/ink.
This keeps the TSH at its highest and prevents doctor (hopefully) from adjusting your doses.
Ask GP to also test B12, Vit D iron, ferritin and folate next time blood test is due, which is usually every six weeks until you are on an optimum of thyroid hormones and TSH is 1 or lower.
