Tried T3 now a little confused

So, long story but please bear with me as I would be interested in your thoughts.

Back in October I started to take Tiromel 6.25 mcg for a couple of weeks then went up to 12.5 mcgs (split dose) for another couple of weeks. From the very first day I experienced chest tightness and respiratory irritation similar to the feeling I get when I've been exposed to too much dust (allergy). I know people often talk about the feeling they get when taking T3 and the feeling of it wearing off but I never experienced this at all. During the final week though I began to feel an improvement in my symptoms - aches and pains going, more energy and definitely not so tired.

I stopped for a couple of days to see if the allergy type symptoms went away and they did. I thought maybe I was allergic to one of the fillers in Tiromel so I ordered some Unipharma to try which I have now received but have not taken.

This is where I am confused. For the last ten days I have felt amazing! I have loads of energy, not an ache or pain in my body and just, well normal! I decreased by levo from 125 mcgs a day to 100/125 mcgs every other day when I increased the T3 to 12.5 mcgs and I haven't put it back up yet.

I know that T3 does not stay in your body for long, just a matter of hours, but we still strive to get our blood t3 levels near the top of the range. I've also read people saying that the FT3 blood test is only really as good as your last dose of T3.

It feels to me like I've managed to top up my T3 levels during that 4 weeks period. Is this possible even or doesn't it work like that? Maybe I had high RT3 levels and maybe the decrease in levo and the T3 has reduced it?

I'm just interested really and thoroughly enjoying so well as I was feeling dreadful before.

I would suspect that good feeling won't last. It's been noted that we often initially feel better when reduce the dose. No one can explain why.

But you may just have been slightly over medicated. I guess time will tell

Yes I've read that also. My t3 has been low though so dont think I've been over medicated. Was on this dose earlier this year and felt awful. I will see what happens i guess.

It's not correct to say that T3 only stays in the body for a few hours. It only stays in the blood for a day, but it stays in the cells for several days. So, what is needed is a constant supply to keep the levels in the cells up.

FT3 testing is not only as good as your last dose, because you should leave a 12 hour gap between your last dose and the test. That way, you get the level that is normally circulating in your blood.

I agree with SlowDragon, Most people feel good for a few days when the stop taking either T4 or T3. But, it doesn't last!

Thank you greygoose. Do you think I should restart the t3 now. 6.25 mcgs or 12.5 mcgs?

Try going back on 12.5 mcg. :)
