I started on 25 Levo 11 days ago, and seem to be feeling so much worse as i have said in previous posts (sorry) i know i have to give it time but i feel so sick and no appetite since been on them. Last night i went to bed and woke around 2 hours later feeling really sick so i sat up in bed and then just fainted. My husband called an ambulance as he just didnt know what to do. Anyway all test at hospital fine. Does anyone think it could be the levo or maybe the manafactuer that is not agreeing with me or i just need to hope it settles in a couple of weeks.

Hi - I read some of your earlier posts and picked up that you appear to ge to the gym every morning - is that to exercise? If so, that will be making you feel worse at the minute. You are only starting to properly absorb the hormone in a small starting dose and exercise uses up the t3 in your body. You won't have enough of this at the minute to support normal activities, never mind exercise as well. So it really is better to ease well off until you are on an optimum dose. I know this can be hard for someone who is into exercise, I had to do the same as it really drained me - and I really resented that for a while. However it was worth it as easing up made me feel better whilst dose was titrated up.

it is very, very early days for you and I see that you have been told many feel worse before things improve, so hang on in there and be aware that anxiety is a hypo symptom. Did you manage to get results for nutrients vit d, folate, ferritin and vit b12? Working to improve those can also help speed up an improvement in health.

It will get better, hang on in there and stick to blood tests every 6 weeks with increases following until tsh is around 1 and then fine tune.

It took many years for you to become hypo and it won't be balanced out overnight, but it will be balanced out with a bit of patience, commitment and the expert advice from this forum.

Make an appointment to see GP next week, explain how ill you have been feeling and ask if you can increase dose

Or if not, can they test Thyroid again now plus ask for vitamin D, Folate, ferritin and B12 to be tested.

Always get actual results and ranges on all tests

25mcg is much too small to start on. It's enough for your own thyroid to take a holiday, but not enough to keep you going

Standard starter dose is 50mcgs

Meanwhile you need to rest and not try to do too much

Thanks very much fpr your reply. Everyrhing apart from Vit D was tested and was all normal. I have been taking vit D for a while so maybe i will carry on until next test. The hospital gave me a sickness injection last night and gave me a prescription for some tablets so will see how i get on with them. I have an appointment at 8am tomorow so maybe he can suggest something. I have always been relatively healthy so its come as a bit of a shock, i just maybe need to relax and just take it all in then i might start to feel a bit better. Thanks again for your advice

Normal definitely doesn't mean optimum, in fact to a doctor it seems to mean anywhere in range, even if just scraping the bottom. Request the numbers for the nutrients and we will give you proper advice. That seems to be lesson number 1 with the medical community, unfortunately, "never believe that normal means ok".

Keep reading - our parent site thyroiduk.org is good for a start - become an informed patient who takes an active part in their own care, always get copies of results, always be pro-active with blood tests and always come here for a 2nd opinion on doctor's recommendations/declarations/treatment!
