Thyroid issues run in my mothers side. My sister, mum, aunt and uncle .. all are on thyroxine of 50-100
All my blood work shows normal. But I have tons of symptoms and finall got a doctor to give my a low dose of synthroid (15 mg) but after about 2 months I felt nothing but hair thinning.
Now I have skin issues and a. Dry dry back of head that itches crazy tiredness too.
I eat gluten free, I exercise 4x a week and am active. I'm 38 and doing pretty well.
Any advice?

‘Normal’ for your doctors isn’t the same as optimal for you so post again with your results and their lab ranges and maybe results can throw some light on your problem. Also have you had your vitamin B12 and D, ferritin and folate checked out? If so post those results too.
Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have money off offers.
All thyroid tests should be done as early as possible in morning and fasting. This gives highest TSH and most consistent results
I would say at a guess that your Synthroid does is far too low. I was on a dose of 25mg and when I had my next results, my thyroid levels were reduced. Too low a dose can pull down your own thyroid hormone production - making you sicker. Get at least a T4 and T3 count from bloods, and post them here.
Unfortunately, there can be many unpleasant symptoms, before I was finally diagnosed as having a Hypothyroid, my ex-GP referred me for counselling. At that time not enough was known about the condition. I have been taking the same dosage of Thyroxine for many years, 100micrograms.
My hair is very fine and it does come out. My hands are cold most of the time, in fact I do feel the cold. I recently had to go for a scan which uses a dye, I did not realise that it could have affected the thyroid., if at any time you need to have aa scan which involves the use of a dye please ensure all know of your condition.
Exercise yes, but please try and avoid placing any pressure on the throat. Have you your heart checked out? There is the risk of Bradycardia, I have that.
The scan contained Iodine and is not helpful for anyone with a thyroid condition. More information should be provided for people with regards to hospital treatment.
I hope I have provided some help, there is a lot more info. Keep the advice of the GP and try not to change the meds unless you have been advised.
