I'm currently lying in bed suffering from, what I can only describe as, one second heart spasms. They seem to be coming and going but are very frequent this morning. I suffer from Graves' Disease, 2.5 years since diagnoses. I was on block and replace and then came off but it came back so now I am just on carbimazole with a total thyroidectomy planned for next year, after my wedding. I have just switched from 10mg to 5mg (Carbimazole) daily within the past week and I've really felt it. I've been feeling very anxious and tired and now I'm suffering these painful spasms. I've just taken a beta blocker to try and calm it down.
Has anyone else suffered with this?
Thanks

Sounds like you are having palpitations. They are unpleasant but not usually damaging. It may be due to reducing dose. Beta Blockers should help calm them down and they'll hopefully stop once you are used to the dose reduction. Make sure you have a thyroid test in a few weeks to check your thyroid levels don't go too high on the reduced dose.
Anybody suffering from an over-active thyroid should have a heart monitor at home. It costs £15 and you can check your heart rate.
A cheaper option: an app on your smartphone, there are several. It helps making the difference between a heart rate which is too high such as 150 beats per minute to a heart rate that is simply a little too high due to anxieties - between 85 and 110 depending on your resting heart rate.
For instance my resting heart rate is at 65. When anxious, I go up to 85-90 at rest. If my thyroid is over-active and/or the dose of Carbimazole is too low, when anxious, I'm at 120 at rest.
