Just stopped my Carbrimazole not feeling great.

Hello all, one week ago i was told by the doctor to stop taking my 5mg a day carbrimazole tabs after being monitored on them for 18 months after having had an episode that was initially misdiagnosed. I dont know any of the levels as doctor just said my levels were stable for the last few test(every 4 months approx). I stopped on his instruction and within 2 days started to feel ropey with palpatations in the mornings. I felt things were worsening, but only in the mornings,(during the day once up and around not so bad)so I had a look online and it was suggested that it is not good to just stop taking the carbrimazole and that it would be better to cut down to 2.5mg and then half of that dose again to wean myself off them without putting me into a system shock thru suddenly stopping. I also read that if after one week your are starting to feel worse that it could be that i need to come off more slowly. I waited one week then started again on 2.5 mg to try and wean myself off slowly. I am still having the palpatations, but not so bad, headaches and mot sleeping so well. Today I feel fuzzy headed and a bit confused. Does anyone have any advise on whether to continue to take the 2.5mg and wean off them or to stop. Feel confused as the doctor did not say that I would feel any different by stopping.

Could be it's the low T3 making you feel ill, rather than the lack of carb.

Rmichelle,

If FT4 and FT3 are too low that causes hypothyroid symptoms. Reducing Carbimazole dose or stopping it will allow FT4 and FT3 to rise.

What should i do as I started to take carb again 4 days ago, as I thought I might be feeling bad because of the sudden stop, but only 2.5mg. I read somewhere on the forum that you should cut down and not stop or you can cause a shock to the system and possible trigger a storm or relapse.

Sorry, I really don't know much about it. I've never taken carb.
