Hi - both of these are levothyroxine sodium, just manufactured by different firms. The fillers may differ between them and some people have difficulty with this, with possible allergic reactions, absorption %, etc. Personally I don't but you have 2 options - try the new ones and see how you find it, or return them and ask for the same brand you have been on.
Also, I might add I'm going to be taking these with the newly prescribed drug Metformin hydrochloride (for diabetes) and was wondering if anyone new if these are ok with each other, I'm not on any other tablets, not yet lol, only Vitamins..... I'm very paranoid with tablets.
The search function can be really useful on the forum, especially since there is so much traffic and so many posts, that it can be hard to track any subject. Also look to bottom right of screen (I believe bottom on phone) for "Topics" box, another useful info finding tool.
The GP will just prescribe levothyroxine sodium. The pharmacists will also source that and what brand they receive from their supplier may vary depending on what stock their wholesaler has at the time. There are several manufacturers supplying to UK market and they are all the same basic hormone. Fillers are what the manufacturer uses to bulk up the very small amount of active hormone to enable it to be made into a tablet and these will vary.
Most people don't have a problem with these, but a few sensitive souls do. Have you ever had any problems with other tablets? If not, then why not try the Mercury ones and see? Having to always have one particular brand can be very trying with trips, or at least phone calls, to several pharmacies each time, so why restrict yourself if you don't yet know if it matters to you?
