MERCURY PHARMA LEVO, changes? dodgy batches?

Hi Everyone,

has anyone who takes Mercury Pharma Levo noticed any changes at all in symptoms or how you have been feeling in the last few months?

I have been on 150mcg of Mercury Pharma Levo for the last 4 years or so and i just wanted to try and establish if anyone else who takes MP Levo had noticed any differences recently, i posted a few days ago on new symptoms i am experiencing which may or may not have something to do with my thyroid or possibly even Mercury Pharma amongst other things, i'm just wondering if there might have been a change to the constituents without it necessarilly being common knowledge,.

The reason i mention this is because i used to take 150mcg Actavis Levo and was absolutely fine with it for years until Accord took Actavis over and although Accord claimed there had been no change whatsoever i reacted really negatively to the extent i had to change from using Actavis/Accord to Mercury Pharma, other people on here also mentioned they had noticed a change with how they were feeling when switching from Actavis to Accord.

I have been very stable and as reasonably well as one can be with thyroid issues up until a few weeks ago on Mercury Pharma so i am just wondering if possibly i have been given a dodgy batch or two by my pharmacist or there may possibly have been a change to the constituents, i just want to rule it out if at all possible as i am proceeding on a process of attempted elimination of what might be or is behind the recent issues i have developed.

Many thanks.

I urge everyone to put in Yellow Card reports if they have issues with any medicine. (If you are not in the UK, follow the procedures for wherever you are.)

These reports are our ONLY way of putting in ‘negative reviews’!

This is a general post which explains a bit more.

Yes - that is a good idea. But put a Yellow Card in anyway based on your personal perception. All they ask is that you report as you find! :-)

Hi there, thanks for replying, i havent noticed anything different about the packaging, have double checked, all seems the same.

There is Mercury Pharma "Levothyroxine" which i always insist on from my pharmacist who is extremely helpful in supplying, i take 1 tablet 100mcg and 1 tablet 50mcg nightly.

There is also Mercury Pharma "Eltroxin" they are supposed to be identical but i was given the MP Eltroxin in error about 2 years ago and i noticed a difference within 48 hrs "i have a mega sensitive sytem) so i returned them to my Pharmacist and he replaced with MP "Levothyroxine"

I assume you are taking the same dose and you dont combine with another brand for different strength availability.

When you say you dont feel good, what is the difference you have noticed?

Hi thanks for reply yes I’m taking levothyroxine only Mercury Pharma and have done for years. Just joint pains and then I noticed the packet, tablets are easier to dispense though. I’ll speak to the chemist. Maybe the the weather lol

See if it persists, no one else apart from you responded to my post which could be they didnt see it or no one else has noticed any difference.

I hope your joint pain disappears.

If the Eltroxin is not identical to the Levothyroxine, that is a contravention of the licence. They have the same PL number and that means they must be identical.

(Some years ago, I was in contact with the MHRA when a single one of these products had a different PL number. That was confusing and unnecessary. The MHRA got them to change the formulation so all were identical.)
