So you have High TPO antibodies, this may be due to Graves or Hashimoto's. Either way it means you may benefit from strictly gluten free diet

Your may have low stomach acid as result of high TSH and being under medicated

are you not in UK? Looking at vitamin D range......this is not UK units - I think this is ng/ml

Surprisingly your vitamins look pretty good

You obviously need dose increase in Levo. Usually 25mcg and then retest after 6 weeks

Has GP seen this result and what has been said.

Likely to need further increase and/or T3 adding if T3 remains low

48 is way higher than the max of the range i.e.7 . Your T3 and T4 are too low .You are very hypothyroid and need levothyroxine. You need to read about it on the Thyroid UK site.It is up to you to learn but you will get advice here.

You also heed to have tested: antibodies, ferritin, folate B12 and D3 .

They radiated my thyroid twice cause my numbers weren't going down. I was hyper thyroid for 13 years. This is all brand new to me so of course I will be researching and reading up on this. Thank you for your information!

You're way hypo! I went from hyper to hypo and it took ages, plus finding a private doc, to get it sorted. Important to read up about it so you're informed of options e.g. levo or NDT. Suggest looking at STTM (Stop the Thyroid Madness) website and Izabella Wentz website and articles. In the USA they medicate for a TSH of over 3 whereas the NHS here have a guideline of over 5, which was much too high for me. Good luck in finding what's right for you.

Thank you very much for the information

What's e.g and ndt?

KathFrances profile image
KathFrances in reply toewilma26

e.g. means for example and NDT stands for Natural Desiccated Thyroid which is usually made from pig thyroid. There are a few makes e.g. Armour, Naturethroid. NHS doesn't use these, so it's easier and cheaper to stay with levo if that works ok for you.

Sorry for unclarity - I meant NHS upper TSH limit in my health trust is 5.5 - don't know whether it varies nationally.

So your results are

TSH 48.2 ( 0.46-7)

FT4 0.14 (0.78 - 2.19)

FT3 0.9 (2.3- 4.2)

So your TSH should be under 7, yours is 48 indicating you are very hypothyroid

Has your GP seen these results, you need to start Levothyroxine ASAP - normally starting dose is 50mcg. Retesting after 6-8 weeks. Likely you will need further increase. We have to step up in 25mcgs steps, retesting after each dose increase

Ask your GP to test for thyroid antibodies to see if the cause is autoimmune thyroid disease. About 90% of hypothyroidism in UK is autoimmune

Very important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12. These are very likely too low as you are hypo and can need supplementing to improve to help thyroid hormones work well

Yes they moved up my appt because my numbers are so off I go Friday to see go. But to be honest my numbers were the same 6 weeks ago when they tested and I had to ask to be put on meds they weren't even going to have me come in until nov 21st. I'm in the us.
