The conclusion is this statement:

A complex relationship exists between the thyroid gland and the liver in both health and disease. A multisystem approach to treating patients with diseases affecting either organ is vital to avoid missing subtle but clinically relevant abnormalities.

Most hypothyroid patients have never seen anyone other than their GP. Of those that have seen someone else, there has been widespread disappointment - whether an endocrinologist or any other specialist. Whilst I can easily agree that a multisystem approach is desirable, I simply don't believe it will ever happen - except in isolated cases. Sadly.
