Hi all, I was wondering if someone could offer me some of their knowledge. For atleast 8 months I have had this unshakable lack of energy, more recently been asleep by 9:30pm. I have constant brain fog, severe bloating, really heavy periods with short cycles (im 32 and never had any gynae issues before) My acne gets worse but yet on the rest of my body my skin is quite dry. Im irritable and snappy and have terrible PMS even though I take evening primrose oil etc to try and stabilise my hormones.
I have had bloods.
My ferritin is 12 so i've been started on medication
TSH 5.3
But my T4 is 14.2
I'm awaiting an appointment to see my GP about the TSH levels, but as a nurse I always thought that with hypothyroid its high TSH but low T4?
HELP!

Impossible to tell how low your FT4 is, because you haven't given us the range. If the range is something like 12.5 - 22.0, then it is low. But, the more likely explanation for such a high TSH is that you're not converting that T4 to T3, and your FT3 is close to the bottom, or under. You need an FT3 test.
