Taz69 It depends if you need it. Yes Liothyronine is T3 but it's not a weight loss drug.

Post your latest thyroid test results showing FT4 and FT3 tested at the same blood draw, then we can see if you would benefit from T3. Taking it when you don't need it can cause health problems.

You need to get TSH, FT3 and FT4 tested to find out what your T3 levels are. Your FT4 level is over-range. I find it makes me feel unwell when FT4 is over-range. Not sure why but seems to raise my blood pressure. Dropping levo dose doesn't help though. Recently changed my diet to low carb, high fat and lost some weight.

Taz69

How much Levo are you taking?

You need FT3 tested at the same time as FT4.

Optimal nutrient levels are necessary for thyroid hormone to work and conversion of T4 to T3. You need Vit D, B12, folate and ferritin tested.

Do you get the very earliest blood test and fast (you can drink water) and do you allow a 24 hour gap between your last dose of levo and the test? This allows the TSH to be at its highest as it reduces during the day and may mean an unnecessary adjustment by the GP.

I looked back at your posts and you don't say whether you've had vitamin levels tested? You need B12, folate, ferritin and vitamin D testing. You've had surgery and some types of anaesthesia can knock out B12 and recently there has been some research to show people with thyroid disease and thyroid cancer suffer from a higher incidence of vitamin D deficiency. I can't answer your question about T3 as I have no experience.

Low carb, high fat diet seems to help many. You could look at this website diabetes.co.uk/

No they havent tested for vitman d and b12 etc.

I would definitely get them tested and post results here. You might not be converting FT4 to T3 efficiently and low vitamins might not be helping.

Essential to get your vitamins checked first. Ask GP to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Also you must know your FT3, tested at same time as FT4.

But if you can't get full thyroid and vitamin testing from GP

Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have money off offers. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw or

All thyroid tests should be done as early as possible in morning and fasting and don't take Levo in the 24 hours prior to test, delay and take straight after. This gives highest TSH and most consistent results
