I thought this article would be of interest to the thyroid community so I've posted the link.
Fluoride and Hypothyroidism: I thought this... - Thyroid UK
Fluoride and Hypothyroidism
Great article.
Check your water board to see if your water is fluoridated
Also switch to fluoride free toothpaste
Fluoride has been added to my water supply for a long time so when I was first diagnosed with an autoimmune thyroid problem I stopped drinking tap water and also switched to a non fluoride toothpaste.
A few days ago, I went on to the website of my water supplier to check the quality of the water with which I am supplied (you have to key in your postcode). The data available was for the period 1st Sept 2016 to 31st Aug 2017.
Fluoride
Min result 0.86 mg/l
Avg 0.92 mg/l
Max 1.0 mg/l
UK/EU Limit is 1.5 mg/l
I live in an area which has nearly twice the odds of recording a high level of hypothyroidism prevalence than an area which has no fluoride added to its water supply.
I have no fluoride in my water supply and I switched to a none fluoride toothpaste 5 years ago.
I never knew how bad it was for the body until they wanted to introduce it to the water in Southampton.
Many people objected and formed a petition which got it stopped.
