Advice please

Hiya I'm wondering if you can give me some advice. My thyroid has been something which my doctors have been questioning for sometime now! Apparently I display some of the symptoms of an under active ie tired, low mood, weight gain, I'm always cold. I even have a goitre that comes and goes. My blood tests are never the same some indicate it's under active some are borderline. Seen an endocrinologist and he told my gp to keep an eye on it but he still hasn't done anything about it!

I don't know what to do! What do you suggest??

Libz80 Do you have your test results? If so then post them on the forum, with reference ranges, for members to comment. If you don't have them then ask at your surgery for a print out, here in the UK we are legally entitled to them under the Data Protection Act.

Have you had thyroid antibodies tested? Having a goitre does suggest they may be raised.

Have you always had your thyroid tests done at the same time of day? Ideally they should be done very early in the morning, no later than 9am, after an overnight fast. If conditions are the same each time then results can be compared accurately. TSH is highest very early in the morning and lowers during the day so there will be quite a difference between the TSH results of a morning test compared to an afternoon test.

Thanks for answering. Unfortunately I don't have print outs of my results and the tests have always been taken at different times of the day without fasting.

Hi Libz80

Good morning. You’ll need to go and ask for the results printed out. It’s the law, they have to share those with you. From now on you must always get copies of your results keep all of them from here on out. It’s very important.

I recently acquired all my blood lab work results from 2011 until this year.

Fast overnight from now on, and take as early as possible. It really is the only way to get things properly assessed.

xx Jill
