Hi just got my new prescription of t3 and noticed that the expiry date is much longer than those I had before also packaging different so found out the maker is not Mercury Pharma UK as my usual but TEVA Hungary anybody know if this is legal for my pharmacy to source from Hungary and why do they have a longer shelf life?
T3 latest prescription makers TEVA in Hungary n... - Thyroid UK
T3 latest prescription makers TEVA in Hungary not Mercury Pharma UK ???
eghjm100,
Mercury Pharma is no longer the sole Liothyronine available in the UK. Morningside were licensed to distribute Liothyronine to the UK in August and Teva in Sept or Oct.
Mercury Pharma used to have long expiry dates until recently.
That sounds like very good news thanks for explaining
Post in a few days/weeks how you find it. If same, different or better.
Is it lactose free?
Will do hope better not lactose free tho
eghjm100,
Please would you post the details from the Patient Information Leaflet? Specifically any details of licence number and actual ingredients.
The recently authorised Teva Liothyronine product does not contain lactose according to the MHRA PAR document:
Other ingredients consist of the pharmaceutical excipients, namely microcrystalline cellulose, maize starch, pregelatinised starch, colloidal anhydrous silica and magnesium stearate.
mhra.gov.uk/home/groups/par...
I am concerned that what you have received is not the newly approved Teva product - or details are wrong somewhere.
Morningside Healthcare LTd UK PL 20117/2070 code GO/drugs/918
The leaflet states each tablet contains 20 microgram liothyronine sodium other excipients are lactose monohydrate, partially pregelatinied maize starch, spry dried acacia, sodium chloride and magnesium stearate
The other one from TVA Hungary is 20 micrograms of liothironine sodium others microcrystalline cellulose, maise starh, pregelatinised starch, colloidal anhydrous silica and magnesium stearate PL 00289/21
eghjm100,
I was somewhat confused by the thread.
I read it that the Teva product (from Teva Hungary) was not lactose-free.
(Or, possibly, that the Morningside product was actually being made by Teva in Hungary.)
sorry for confusion I had two different boxes Morningside made in UK has lactose and Teva from Hungary no lactose they both have license numbers so look to be ok I just had not realised that we now have other licences suppliers in the UK
How are you finding the Morningside T3 and the Teva T3?
I am finding Morningside much stronger than Mercury Pharma T3.
How are you getting on with the new liothyronines?
I haven't started mine yet. I stock piled so much when I thought it was going to be taken away that I started ordering more frequently one thing I did notice is that the expiry date on the new stuff is much longer.
I've just started Teva Liothyronine and I've had a bad headache each day. I don't normally get headaches. I was given two different brands this time but I didn't have this problem with the other one. Not sure now what the brand was.
I was given Teva instead of my usual Mercury Pharma brand a few days ago, and have been feeling really off since. 1st day I was completely spaced out and had a headache, now I think I’m just used to the spaced out feeling, but the headache hasn’t left, especially when I bend down. Also feeling like I don’t care, have no spark, it’s bloody christmas tomorrow and I have no patience with my 4 year old boy. Luckily my husband has been on holiday so I’ve just left him to deal with anything. Not feeling particularly tired though. Just fed up.
I have just been given Teva instead of Mercury Pharma. After a couple of days, I have had headaches, feel nauseous, cramps in my calves , hot sweats all the time and really irritable.
I didn't have these problems with Mercury Pharma and before that I was taking Tiromel without problems.
I will be sourcing Mercury Pharma in future.
