Trophygirl,

Propranolol doesn't affect thyroid levels or thyroid function tests.

The most common side effects of propranolol are:

slower heart rate.

change in sex drive or performance.

diarrhea.

dry eyes.

hair loss.

nausea.

weakness or tiredness.

If you were prescribed Propranolol because heart rate was fast you may be able to reduce dose or even stop taking it now that 5mg Carbimazole is regulating your thyroid levels.

TrophyGirl is hyperthyroid so she needs to inhibit production and conversion of T4 and T3.

But it can still be affective. I was on it almost 20 years, couldn't tolerate Levo any other way, turned out I was gluten intolerant and severely vitamin D deficient!

Soon as stopped gluten was able to get off propranolol
