Been put on 25mg Levo to start 8 weeks ago now review in another 4 weeks. Never felt so bad, tired, anxious but more worrying is that the left side of my head goes a bit numb and ringlet after taking Levo for few hours. Missed one dose and felt normal that day. Had stroke 4yrs ago and given all clear for that but on Clopidogrel 75mg and Anvorstatin 20mg. Could they be interacting? Can’t get into doctors for atleast 4 week.

Hi dadgav , I would speak to a local pharmacist rather than wait so long to see your GP. They are very helpful regarding drug interactions and contraindications to taking medications. Hope you feel better soon. ☆

Welcome to the forum. The good news is that your doctor knows your results aren't right. It be id t doing what he should be doing at this point. You have been given a very low started dose, may. E because of your previous stroke. We are started low so our bodies get used to the medication and then keep increasing until we are on the correct amount for us. Increases are done in 25's but every 6 weeks as it takes 6 weeks to fully get this into your body and we can't speed that up.

The reason though why you are feeling better when you don't take it is that once our body realised we are getting the Levo or T4 as often referred as it gets lazy and thinks why should I bitter as it's getting here without my help so in actual fact you may be getting less T4 now than before you were diagnosed. This will mostly improve when you get your next dose increase. So try and get your appointment moved to the 6 weeks if you can abs schedule later appointments the same interval.

There are other rules about taking thyroid meds as well. Well worth following these as make things better for you and you will soon get the hang of things. I hope you have been told to take your meds on an emtu stomach is often easier to take it on waking. Swallow which a glass full of water to get the tablet down to the place it needs to be quickly. Then eat nothing for an hour though water is ok. Food and coffee inhibit the absorption and can other medication so food one hour away , medication 2 though some like the pill oF HRT 4 hours away the same as Vit D and calcium. So you may have some juggling to do. He may find once optimally treated you no longer need statins so good if you can come off them.

Lots more info on the Thyroid Uk site who run this forum. You will soon get into the regime and hopefully with the increases start to feel and look much better. Good habit to get into is to always get a copy of your results and ranges to post if you don't u derstand them and to keep for your records. Rangesare inpoirta d as they differ from lab to lab so can't really help if we don't know what they are. Shout out if anything you don't understand or are worried about anything and I'm sure someone will.bE able to help.

When you have your thyroid blood tests don't take Levothyroxine for 24 hours beforehand, and book the blood test for first thing in the morning. That way your blood test results will be fully representative of your thyroid status and you are less likely to end up under medicated.

I see you are on statins - is that because your cholesterol level is high? If so you may find you don't need them once your thyroid hormones are sorted because high cholesterol is a symptom of an underactive thyroid.

You need to get your B12, Folate, Ferritin/iron and Vit D levels checked because they are very often low in people with a dodgy thyroid and need to be at healthy levels (not just at the bottom of the range).

Cholesterol never been problem, was 4.7 at stroke then 3.6 with statin. Dr seem to want to give everyone them. Had bloods done few times since stroke all ok no worries at all.
