Concerned about T3

Hello, I am a hypothyroid patient in Korea am taking synthroid currently, but has always felt terrible on it. Here, we actually have compound t3/t4 thyroid medication which I want to try out. Since my TSH has always been suppressed whereas my T3 has always been in below the range. However what worries me is the recent incident in UK where patients are being cut off from their T3, and if similar incident were to happen here, after my body get used to T3 but i can no longer acquire T3, does your body adjust to just having T4?

Basically, I can't start on T3 because I am afraid of withdrawl effect of T3.

Has anyone took T3 for a long time but went back to having T4 only?

It is unlikely that T3 will be withdrawn in Korea, it is only being withdrawn here because the pharmaceutical companies exploited a loophole so the cost is astronomical.

If you have a T4/T3 product I would definitely give it a go if you are not converting adequately which it sounds like you are not.

Like all of us here in the UK if for any reason you could not get it in Korea then you could source from abroad but it really is unlikely to be stopped if it is an affordable product there.

Hi I take T3 and live in the U.K. I have been taking it for 7 years now and I'm a bit scared if it stops but I will fight it as much as I can and try and source it from somewhere I can not convert T4 to T3 in the brain so yes I'm worried .. But personally I would still try the T3 if I was you so at least you would find out if you do feel better on it or not ... Good luck

If you want to fight have you seen the ITT campaign on Facebook? Come and have a look. Ask to come to private page.😀

I have been taking T3 for awhile now.I live in the UK & was prescribed it on the NHS,but have always topped up with purchasing over the internet. If you ask people to PM you their reliable source if you ever get it withdrawn, you will be offered a choice of suppliers.I had a very good supplier in Greece. When that became unavailable I purchased from Mexico.

I now take natural dessicated thyroid,so get my T3 that way. This I buy from USA but that is only one reliable source. There are others.By using this forum we avoid the risk of fraud.

Our UK T3 problem is all because of exploitation of the NHS by manufacturers.

So suggestions welcome happy to go private for best care..there has to be a better way ?? I saw a private who was frankly useless dropped a letter to gp felt pulse rate had 30 min chat and sent me copy of letter ..180 pounds later still feel the same and nobody mentioning T3 ..where to go from here I have a genetic lung disease and this on stop over past 5 yrs is dreadful.. just want to feel well..thanks in advance for advise 😊

Are you in U.K.? Private testing with medichecks or bluehorizonmedicsls.co.uk

Thyroid plus 11,12&15 are all good comprehensive tests.

You defs need reverse T3 testing.

The only way to get answers as Dr's are blooming useless for pretty much everything!

It sounds as though you might have a faulty gene that stops you converting T4 to T3.

Thanks, my results from Blue Horizon in July as follows...

Result Normal Range Units

TSH L 0.03 0.27-4.20 Ml U/L
