Hi, you need to give more information about diagnosed condition, meds and ranges. If you are loosing too much weight too fast, you sound as though you need to see a doctor asap. Val

Have you been diagnosed as being hyperactive?

Have you got antibodies too?

Are you being treated? If so what with?

You always need to ask for all your blood test results and keep them, you are entitled to have them.

I know what you mean about joint / muscle pains. I've got Graves which is hyperactive with antibodies. My whole body hurt, I used to feel like a road roller had driven right over me when I got up in the morning. Like you I lost a lot of weight, if I got down to ground level for any reason I had to either be close to something to hold on to or have somebody pull me up.

Hopefully once your treatment starts to work things will get better for you.

You need to find out what your vitamin B12 and D levels are and also your ferritin and folates. If you are taking carbimazole then get yourself some high strength vitamin C and takethat every day - I'm afraid when my pharmacist told me to do that when I started on carbimazole I was so stunned with it all that I didn't ask but I took 1000mcg slow release vitamin C with zinc and I felt pretty good.

I also used to have lots of nice long soaks in the bath with a cup full of magnesium flakes and a few drops of lavender oil.

Oneof my problems was that I didn't look that ill, I lost a load of weight so I actually looked quite good. I just felt dreadful on the inside and because I didn't look too ill people found it hard to appreciate how ill I was.

I know if you're 19 it's going to sound really boring to say try to get as much rest and sleep as you can - I was 64 and my kids had left home so I was glad the chance to rest - eat well, I gave up junk food and fizzy drInks n favour of oily fish and vegetables, I drink water or sometimes decaf tea and coffee.

You don't want to over-exercise either - I kept going to my gym because it's a nice friendly caring place and I was determined not to let my Graves beat me but I massively reduced everything I did, same with Pilates, I kept going to that too but my teacher is a physiotherapist so everything was modified for me and I was looked after really carefully.

Hope some of that helps, just be kind to yourself, be a bit selfish too and only do things you want to do - not things you feel you ought to do. Eventually with time and the right medicines you ought to feel good again. Read as much as you can about over active thyroids - look up the Thyroiduk.org.uk website, you'll find loads of helpful stuff on there, ask question on here and ask questions when you get to see an endocrinologist. I used to keep a little notebook with bullet points of things I wanted to ask about plus all my test results and their lab ranges (that's really important) plus anything that I read that was useful. Good luck.
