Been signed off by the endo as my numbers are in line with what the book says!!

Are you feeling well she asked, no I said. Well that doesn't matter she said your number are fine!!!

But I can't lose any weight so my metabolism isn't running well, nothing to do with it she said. Buy a hula hoop that will help was her final word!!!

I shook her hand and left!!!!!

I feel condemned !!

What were you most recent results. TSH FT4 and FT3.

Have you had antibodies tested to see if Graves is still an issue in the background

What about vitamins. An old post showed low B12.

Couldn't see any vitamin D results either

You need Vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 test results and ranges.

I didn't get my last results. She really wasn't interested in anything other than the numbers matched her text book and she had done her job!!!

I take 8 vitamins,

Ferritin folate

B12

B complex

Vitamin D

Vitamin C

Selenium

Iodine

And another that I can't think of at the mo. Lol. Brain fog!

If you didn't stop taking the B complex 3-5 days before your last test the results may be suspect

Biotin in B complex can falsely affect the test results

You really should NOT take iodine, especially if you have Hashimoto's

Iodine should only be taken if under the care of an especially knowledgeable iodine medical expert

You don't mention Vitamin D. Low vitamin D is extremely common and affects thyroid issues significantly

Can't win can you. She said I should be taking iodine and all the others I take. My last vitamin D reading was low as was my B12 but the endo said they are in range so they are fine

Yet another endo that has no idea.

Essential that vitamin D is at least above 70nmol and around 100nmol is better.

Supplement and test twice a year. You may need more in winter than summer.

B12 and B complex, to improve B12 and keep all the B's in balance.

But If you are taking vitamin B complex, (or any supplements containing biotin,) remember to stop these 3-5 days before any blood tests, as biotin can falsely affect test results

If you are in the UK you are legally entitled to your results - Data Protection Act. I'm sure she doesn't want to break the law as well as being shown up as an idiot. Get in touch with secreary and get them.

Jeez!!! I think someone must have upset me today (and I can't actually remember anyone doing so!) but my first reaction to that was "Report the b*tch".

Seriously -

Buy a hula hoop that will help

and it doesn't matter that you're not feeling well.

Words fail me (well almost!) What an uncaring c*w. And you shook her hand???!!!!!!

After half an hour of banging my head on a brick wall, of me throwing things at her, questions that is and all I got back was your numbers are text book, I gave up!

She did her job took me from hyper to Hypo so tatty bye was the attitude.

You couldn't make this up could you.

Someone should write a book about all the unbelievable comments we get from doctors.

Stick with the forum, people here often have better knowledge than the doctors.

Don't you wish we could send them all a thyroid curse, make them suffer like we do and then deny them any treatment because the numbers say they are fine!

Oh gawd yes!!!! I often think how good it would be to pass it to some one else for a week to see how they like it. Specially those who say, it will get better just wait and see. Or keep taking the tablets it will sort itself out!!

It's auto immune for life not for a few months !!!!

My cousin said to me 'just keep doing what the doctor tells you, and you'll soon be fit and well again!' I said, 'if I keep doing what the doctor tells me, I'll be dead in six months!' My cousing didn't speak to me for months, after that.

I think I would have used my hand for something other than shaking hers! Shaking her neck might have made me feel better! I wonder, does she really think she's a good doctor?

I'm glad in a way not seeing her again. Least now I only have to fight with a gp!!

I have just changed doctors so it will be interesting to see what happens. Can't be any worse than the previous surgery!!!

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! She sounds like a contender for The Worst Endo award!

Odd thing is she was a likeable person just played by the book. Over the two years I'd been seeing her, I've been told some very annoying things.

Glad to be rid of really

When I mentioned the weight problem to my (new) GP she told me that less calories and more exercise was the thing, oh, and that Levi is not a slimming tablet! Even with an increase from 125 to 150 my weight has barely gone down. I have no appetite for food. And I am talking about 4 stone increase to what I was.

Snoddyoddbod profile image
Snoddyoddbod in reply to Lrhsal

I'm sympathise with you totally. I've gained around 4 stone and it's not moving at all.

My endo told me to diet and go to slimming world. So I put the whole family on a healthy eating plan and I tracked food intake and everyones weight.

Went back to see the endo and gave her the note book and said everyone has lost weight apart from me so please explain why! She never even gave me an answer!

I eat because I know I have too. I don't enjoy food at all anymore. I'm gluten free now and have just spent the whole weekend eating out with friends and it's been a nightmare trying to find food I can eat.

My husband said I was treating the Levo as a slimming tablet. I nearly knocked him into next week!!!!

The rubbish we are made to listen to is unbelievable!

Chin up tho!

What a ditz! She has set back female emancipation by several 100 years! "Buy a hula hoop that will help" so she's a physio as well, is she?

Snoddyoddbod profile image
Snoddyoddbod in reply to Angel_of_the_North

She is like a stick to start with !!!

Angel_of_the_North profile image
Angel_of_the_North in reply to Snoddyoddbod

However stick-like she is (brown and sticky?), it doesn't make her qualified to know what physical exercise might or might not damage your spine or knees unless she's a physio. I remember hula hoops being banned at school when I was kid because of dangers of bruising and spinal damage. And if you are unfit, any cardio-type exercise can be quite risky without proper supervision - and it doesn't burn many calories or build muscle (except core strength) or protect against osteoporosis, so not really a good choice of exercise. She should have suggested a rebounder ...
