Slightly clearer pic I hope.

Hi, I just got my latest results and to save my typing finger I have attach. a pic that hopefully is legible. These are on a dose of 1.125 grain (I've been cutting a 1.5 grain into 3/4. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated and thank you in advance. Richard

Dashi2208,

VitD 86.5 is fine but you will need to supplement 1,000iu - 2,000iu D3 October - April to maintain levels. VitD should be taken 4 hours away from Levothyroxine.

Calcium, phosphate and albumin are within range.

Most people taking NDT will be optimally dosed when FT3 is 4.65 - 5.70 and this will usually suppress TSH <0.1. FT4 8.6 is below range but this isn't unusual when taking NDT and not important if FT3 is adequate. If you are symptomatic you could increase dose to 1.5 grains.

Magnesium is within range.

Ferritin is optimal half way through range but despite that and high transferrin you aren't iron deficient as your iron is almost at the top of range.

B12 is unlikely to be deficient but folate is a little low in range. You could supplement folic acid or methylfolate for 3 months and eat more green leafy veg to raise folate.

Glucose and full blood count are within range.

thanks . .. that's interesting about the T4 not mattering. I was on 1.5 grains for about a year but although felt ok, tho hard to say exactly because of rubbish sleeping patterns, I was often waking drenched with sweat. I played around a little with T4 and T3 various combinations but even though felt good . . . maybe a little too good e.g a narcotic sort of good (not that I know about that sort of thing obviously) Levo. and Lio. do feel much less 'clean' compared to NDT. So I'm tinkering about with trying to get that elusive sweet spot with NDT.

If I remember rightly 1.5 grain was making my T4 too high about 6 months ago when the lab via my GP finally agreed to run broader than just TSH tests in-spite of regular request from GP. I thing TSH and T3 were in range however. I will try to get a printout of the above. Would elevated T4 cause night sweats you think?

Cheers, R.

Dashi2208,

I've had very high FT4 and it didn't cause nightsweats. Your FT4 is below range so you've a very long way to go before it goes over range.

Check your B12 and folate levels. B12 deficiency can cause nightsweats. ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/252...

Hi Clutter, it definitely seems to be when I'm taking 1.5 grains hence the lowered dose trial. Weirdly I just looked at my results when on 1.5 grains and FT4 was the same as when on 3/4 of 1.5 grains . FT3 was 4 as opposed to 3.3 now and TSH was 1.86 and now is 1.56. So approx 1grain seems to give very similar bloods to 1.5 but less sweaty

Dashi2208,

Possibly too much T3 in 1.5 grains for you although FT3 4 isn't biochemically overmedicated. You could try adding some Levothyroxine to 1 grain NDT to see whether symptoms improve without sweating.

dashi2208 How long were you on 1.125 grains when this test was done? Because you said in this post of 19 days ago healthunlocked.com/thyroidu... that you were on on 1/2 grain and 20mcg of T3

TSH: 1.56 (0.35-4.94)

FT4: 8.6 (9.01-19.05)

FT3: 3.3 (2.63-5.7)

This shows that you need an increase in your NDT but it depends how long you've been on 1.125grains NDT only.

Thx S Sue, I think know what you're going to say . . . 19 days isn't long enough to get a clear picture. BTW the results you've posted above were when on just NDT 1.5 grain. I did try for a few days, maybe a week mixing in some T3 and T4 but quickly gave that up in favour of just NDT

BTW the results you've posted above were when on just NDT 1.5 grain.

TSH: 1.56 (0.35-4.94)

FT4: 8.6 (9.01-19.05)

FT3: 3.3 (2.63-5.7)

These results have been taken from the results form in your photograph above, done 8th September, which you said in that post that you were taking 1.125 grains when the tests were done.

And yes, 19 days is nowhere near long enough to be on a new dose before retesting. You're just wasting your money. I take a Levo plus T3 combination and wait 6 weeks, even then I honestly think for me I should wait an extra week or so.

sorry for confusion . . . at any rate 1 grain and 1.5 grain were approx the same
