Has anyone be told they have wormian bones. It is a hypo problem with bones and I would like to know how it affects people. I wonder if I or my child has it?

I have never heard of this before but this is an explanation but I don't think it has anything to do with the thyroid gland.

Shaws. I have just had a google. I have been looking at all the familial traits of a genetic condition we might be tested for and wormian bones is one of the features. It seems from google search that wormian bones are very common extra small bones in the skull about 50% of people have them as small children. People usually grow out of them. They are assocaited with hypothyroidism, not a direct symptom. I think they are just more common in hypo children.

Mandyjane,

There are apparently numerous conditions associated with wormian bones and hypothyroidism is just one. I imagine you would need a skull x-ray to determine whether or not you have it.

Thanks Clutter. I have just done a google. I am going to put up a post about blood tests and children now. I am still traumatised by my childs blood test earlier this week and feeling sorry for myself.

You have a case for being sorry as we do worry about our children and all we want is for them to be healthy and not suffer.

Hopefully doctors will be able to put some thought into your child's treatment.
