I have graves. I met my daughter in law for coffee today. I was carrying a tray with 2 latest and 2 scones on it all of a sudden the tray fell on the floor plates smashed. The only thing I can think is my hands suddenly went. Has this happened to any one else?
Weak muscles: I have graves. I met my daughter in... - Thyroid UK
Weak muscles
This used to happen to me after my thyroidectomy when I was very hypothyroid. Most commonly I'd have a mug or glass in my hand and suddenly I'd just lose the strength and it would slip out of my hand. I couldn't feel the change in my hand, I'd just see the object drop. I lost every glass in my house during that period, it was happening all the time.
I didn't realise it was going to fall it just went. Felt such an idiot and had no explanation as to why it happened. It's comforting to know that it's a thyroid thing and nothing else that's going on🙄. Thank you for making it all seem not so bad. It played on my mind ever since.
I too have Graves, and first realised there was something "really" wrong with me when I got down on the floor in a meeting to plug something into a trailing socket, and realised that with nothing to push up on,I couldn't get up without help. So embarrassing! - but much better after a couple of months on carbimazole .
I have been on Carbimazole since April this year. Doctor has just reduced the dose to 10mg. I have had that when I've been on the floor and not able to get up you feel such a lemon. I didn't even realise the tray was falling so embarrassing it went with such a Crash all heads turned to see what the noise was.
Definitely a Graves symptom, yet to find anything that helps though.
