Morning everyone, has anyone experienced abdominal pain and feeling faint/awful/sick/rushing to the toilet an hour after breakfast when first going gluten free? This passes after about 45minutes and I'm fine the rest of the day. Went gluten free 10days ago.
Trying to work out whats making me feel so awful, thought might be my levo so didn't dare take that today.
Not sure whether to give up gluten free? Thanks for any advice

Have you changed what you eat other than going gluten-free? E.g., are you now eating cloud bread (made with eggs and xanthan gum), or eating baked goods made with almond and coconut flour?
Are you eating more vegetables or even sugar alcohols (erythritol, poly-D etc.)?
I'd hope it's not just being GF for whatever reason as that sounds very inconvenient and downright miserable for you.
Hi ITYFIALMCTT thanks for replying, thinking about it, it seems to only happen after breakfast-gluten free oates so I guess tomorrow I'll have fruit instead and see what happens. I seem ok the rest of the day and eat lots of veg, salad.
Sounds like something that is worth trying out to see if that's contributing to this for you. I hope that it's something straightforward to fix that allows you to move on with minimum disruption.
When you say 'gluten free' what does this mean you're eating?
Many gluten free 'products' contain all kinds of other junk that often cause digestive problems.
Going fully grain free is possibly the most important thing you can do if you have thyroid issues, so do persist.
If you're already doing all this, you may simply be having withdrawal symptoms. Withdrawal usually lasts 2 weeks, during which some of the most extreme effects of wheat and gluten can emerge. For me it was digestive, for my friend it was mega eczema and for my partner it was eczema and mucus overload! All inflammation fighting its dying breath.
Thank you maxart, thats interesting about grain free and other junk, theres such a lot to all this isn't there. I'll not have the GF oates tomorrow for breakfast and see if it still happens. If that isn't the answer Ill PM you-thanks for your help
Please do feel free. If you're a reader, my 'bible' is Wheat Bell Total Health by Dr William Davis. There is so much great info in there and all the science..
