I'm seeing a different GP today and I am going to ask for a second opinion and more tests. I feel nervous about it, I've never asked for a second opinion before, what if she says no?
Nervous: I'm seeing a different GP today and I am... - Thyroid UK
Nervous
I'd hope that she'd consent.
If she doesn't, perhaps you might find a way to purchase your own testing if that feels as if it would be useful for you to argue your case in the future?
Good Luck with your appt and I hope that it goes well.
Just ask if they can please check your thyroid function including thyroid antibodies, as there is family history of autoimmune thyroid disease. (Doesn't matter if that's true or not)
You would also like Vitamin D rechecked as it has been low (are you supplementing if so how much and since when? )
You say you take Vitamin B complex, you MUST stop this at least 3-5 days before any blood tests. The biotin in it can falsely affect test results.
Probably not much point testing B12 or folate due to supplements (B12 takes months to disapate from supplementing)
Went to the appointment with what I thought was an attack of heartburn ended up collapsing at surgery and now in Hospital waiting to have my gall bladder out. 😱
