My daughter just got antibodies lab done and seems to be rising. What can I do to decrease TSI antibodies and hasi antibodies?
Decrease antibodies: My daughter just got... - Thyroid UK
Decrease antibodies
Is she gluten free?
Read as much as possible about Hashimoto's.
Levo dose high enough so that she has a TSH in lower part of range(around one) Important to have very good levels of vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 - very likely need to supplement some or al, these. Essential to test first.
Low stomach acid and leaky gut common.
But very very many also find changing to strictly gluten free diet helps reduce symptoms and may slowly lower antibodies
See The Thyroid Pharmacist, Amy Myers, Chris Kresser, scdlifestyle.com and many others. All these look at finding root cause, not just at taking Levo and ignoring everything else.
I went totally gluten free two years ago and my thyroid antibodies have plummeted in that time. I started it as an experiment and the results were so amazing I couldn't go back to eating gluten if I tried. I joined Coeliac UK to get their wonderful handbook of all gluten free products, they send a newsletter too and have a good website. We eat out quite a lot too and I've never found it difficult.
I always carry unsalted nuts, I found getting a quick snack the most difficult in the beginning - also I tend not to eat bread (even GF bread) or anything with grains - spikes my blood sugar too much as do jacket potatoes which is a pity - but I'm I'm really stuck I'll buy a pack of pre cooked chicken and eat that, or there's fruit, cheese etc,
It might be worth her trying a gluten free diet, people have had good results with it, but you've got to do it properly, you can't be 'almost gluten free' you either are or you aren't.
Couldn't agree more.
Before I went gluten free I couldn't imagine how I would cope.
Now I can't imagine ever eating anything with gluten again. Even my very traditional endocrinologist is now totally on board with gluten free.
I do eat GF bread. M&S brown seedy is delicious. Just discovered Warburtons GF bagels - wonderful toasted with smoked salmon and cream cheese
Yes I joined Coeliac UK even though I am "only" gluten intolerant
My gastroenterologist said, after endoscopy (negative for coeliac) "just because it's gluten intolerance, doesn't mean it's any less serious."
Antibodies keep on falling, the further they fall the better you feel 😀
Only time truely stuck eating out was on short haul plane - bag of peanuts to the rescue.
She is. I mean we use the same toaster as other breads but otherwise she is strictly gluten and dairy free.
Go completely grain free and /or don't use the same toaster. Even crumbs can be enough to trigger symptoms. I don't eat any gluten free products either as they often contain other products that aggravate Hashimotos symptoms. Stick to non processed foods, fruit, vegetables, meat, fish, nuts etc.
