Fluctuating TSH Levels and Dose Increase

Hi all - I was diagnosed back in Feb (TSH 9.1) and put on a dose of 25mcg, further blood test in March revealed TSH 11.07 so increased to 50mcg. Next blood test was 'normal' result (TSH 0.65) in May and last blood test at end of July TSH was up to 14.97. GP has increased my dose to 100mcg and I have now been taking for just over a week at new level and feeling awful! Is this because my body is catching up with the new dose? I am positive for Hashi's (was tested in March with a result of 80 IU/ml (range <34 IU/ml) but haven't been tested at any other time for this. Feeling exhausted and hoping that this is just due to dose adjustment. Any thoughts on this appreciated - thanks.

JenniferTh It will be th Hashi's that's causing your results to jump about all over the place and cause your TSH to swing high and low. I expect when your TSH is high your free Ts are low, and when your TSH is low the free Ts are quite high. Do they only test TSH?

You can help reduce the antibodies by adopting a strict gluten free diet which has helped many members here. Gluten contains gliadin (a protein) which is thought to trigger autoimmune attacks so eliminating gluten can help reduce these attacks. You don't need to be gluten sensitive or have Coeliac disease for a gluten free diet to help.

Supplementing with selenium l-selenomethionine 200mcg daily can also help reduce the antibodies, as can keeping TSH suppressed.

Useful advice - thank you. I have tried going gluten free a couple of times before but will need to have more willpower and stick to it this time. Need to feel better than this.
