I took Levo for 2 years now I'm on NatureTroid for 6 weeks my homeopathic dr told me to take my NatureTroid pill 5 hours before blood test ...Is 5 hours ok? I heard different opinions and I'm confused

Blood tests are best as close to 8am as possible, with thyroid hormones taken afterwards.

Lot's of people don't take their meds for days before blood tests because they feel better on a TSH level that's lower than their doctor's comfort level.

Doctors don't understand natural thyroxine has T3 in it that has an immediate effect on TSH.

So if your doctor wants your TSH at 2.0 and you're taking medication with T3 in it, you don't take it for 3 days before.

It very much depends upon who is looking at the test and what they are testing for.

If testing for FT3 your result would be very different if you'd taken your meds an hour before as opposed to a day before.

If it's your homeopath who is looking at the tests she probably just wanted consistency for every test so picked a random 5 hours.
