Tsh results: Can anyone advice me. My last two... - Thyroid UK
Tsh results
Mrsmop, TSH alone isn't any good. You need FT4 and FT3. You want to know where your FT4 lies in it's range and whether you are converting it well enough to FT3.
You also need to know if you have thyroid antibodies causing autoimmune thyroid disease, and finding out if you have any nutritional deficiencies so Vit D, B12, folate and ferritin are important too.
I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's by my last doctor, put on B12 injections-when I changed doctors he said I did not need B12 my levels was fine. I was given Atavis had to stop taking it two days ago. The joint and muscle pain was so bad I could not bare it any longer. Pain as now stopped and I am Starting on Wockhadt tomorrow. Cross fingers I pickup.
As you have Hashimoto's then you need to try and reduce the antibodies. Many members find that a strict gluten free diet helps. Gluten contains gliadin which is thought to trigger antibody attacks. Supplementing with selenium L-selenomethionine 200mcg daily and keeping TSH suppressed can also help.

But for anyone to help we need to see full thyroid results with reference ranges, in particular FT4 and FT3 done at the same time to see if you are converting well, and those vitamins and minerals to see if your levels are optimal, if they aren't then thyroid hormone can't work.
Thank you Susie. I asked doctor today to test for FT3 and 4. Blood tests in 6 weeks he said all vitamin levels fine. I also have antibodies and just diagnosed with calcium in my joints.
Never accept 'fine' or 'normal', always get the numbers. All they mean when they tell you that is that they are somewhere within the range but it's where in the range that's important. If you are in the UK then always ask your surgery for a print out of your results, including the reference ranges, it is your legal right to have them under the Data Protection Act.
You already mentioned Hashimoto's then that means you have high antibodies, read the links in my previous post about Hashi's.
mrsmop,
Welcome to our forum,
If you post FT4 results (& FT3 if you have it) complete with ranges (numbers in brackets), members will comment.
Also advise of thyroid hormone replacement & dose (ie Levothyroxine) and how long you have been medicating.
As you have Hashimoto's you need to look at healing your gut and almost have low vitamins if not supplimenting
See this previous post for vitamin advice from SeasideSusie and my own advice about importance of gluten free diet and gut healing
Also B12 injections stopped by new doctor sounds wrong. How long were you in B12 injections before they were stopped?
Were you fully tested for PA and intrinsic factor
You might want to post about B12 issues on PAS Unlocked.
Sorry a bit slow getting back on posts. Had to go see nurse this morning I got a urine infection feeling horrible. My first doctor did the intrinsic test and put me on B12 it seemed to stop all infections. I think the new doctor jut checked for B12 vitamins is it a different test.? I felt really well on B12 looking back.
