Hi, I had thyroid surgery 1.5 years ago. Was given 100 mcg of levothyroxin to start with then depending on my blood test it goes up to 200 mcg. Just last April I noticed that I have been gaining weight. No change in diet whatsoever. Could this be caused by my medication?

Weight gain on levothyroxin
Almost certainly.
I would change to low carb diet with as much exercise as you can manage, you will see some weight come off.
You need to know what your FT3 is. You won't lose weight if your T3 is low.
Why does the dose change so much? Is your doctor dosing by the TSH? That is the best way to keep a patient sick!
Yes please post some recent results with the ranges as it's much easier then to give advice
If the "surgery" was to remove your entire thyroid gland for whatever reason, then you are unlikely to ever do very well on levo alone. Look into the possibility of taking some T3 with it or to start on NDT. 200mcg of levo is a very large dose.
You may still be undermedicated what are your recent labs? Can you post with ranges?
Also have you had your thyroid antibodies tested?
If you have Hashimotos it's auto immune and you would need to be gluten and casein(cows milk) free ideally.
Have you thought of adding T3 or switching to NDT? You may be like hundreds of us and not convert T4 to T3 adequately. T3 is the active hormone that all our cells need, five times more active than T4!
