Metformin will deplete your B12, have you had your blood tested for levels of B12, ferritin, folate and VitD? These are all needed to be at optimal levels for your thyroid medication to work.
Low B12 will cause similar symptoms to underactive thyroid.
Your folate is low, do you eat plenty of green vegetables? It sounds as though it will need supplementing. A shame they haven't tested your ferritin or VitD. When we have thyroid issues it's good to get all these well over the halfway point in the range. Your B12 itself looks not too bad, but it maybe that it's just floating around in your blood and not getting to the cells where it's needed. Folate, ferritin and VitD help it to be absorbed.
Perhaps your doctor will arrange for further blood testing? If not, there are private tests available, but obviously this will involve a payment.
from previous posts I remembered that you also have problems with Thyroid meds. That is why I wondered if you had Hormone Issue, In my case I had Estrogen Dominance - I have listed the symptoms from my book for you - it's just a thought
Fatique/ Weight Gain/ Mood Swings/ Depression/ Inability to handle stress/ Low Metabolism/ symptoms of Hypothyroidism with normal T3 & T4 ranges/ Unstable Blood Sugar/ Sluggishness in the mornings/ Irritability/ Craving Caffine, Sugar and Carbs/ Fibrocystic Breast/ Loss of Sex Drive/ Water Rention/ Uterine Fibroids, Headaches & Endometriosis
i have fatigue, weight gain (although ive lost weight the last couple of weeks), diagnosed type 2 diabetic 9th june, sluggish, irratable, craving sugar and carbs, no sex drive, water retention, 2 uterine fibroids, headaches (need to go to opticians as cant real labels ect any more
drs did try to est hormones 6 weeks ago but the lab refused due to my age
Hormone blood test are not accurate, my GP and Gyno told me that, bit like the thyroid blood test.
I really do wonder if you have too much Estrogen. The Saliva test if done through TUK is £88.00 which includes the special carrier that comes out to collect the sample.
I realised that I was going through a very early menopause (although I was aware that my hormones were not right when I was about 24) but of course the DR just said it's just your hormones, nothing to worry over, then off course I start going through my menopause - thats when I knew for certain that hormones were a real issue for me - I studied the Dr John Lee book and things just started to fall in to place, the picture was becoming clearer.
