Latest Medichecks results - very low tsh, still no energy

After having way ott results last time, I've been on 100mcg thyroxine and 12.5 mcg t3 for 6 weeks.

Results today:

Tsh *0.08 (0.27 - 4.2)

T4 14.9 (12.0 - 22.0)

T3 4.5 (3.1 - 6.8)

Doctor's comments say I should reduce my thyroxine because the Tsh is too low!!

If I do that, my thyroid hormones will drop dramatically and I've already got extremely hypo symptoms. If I wasn't taking the T3 that result would be way under range.

I don't want to show this to my doctor- I'll end up very ill.

Venicefan Generally, you don't take any notice of the doctor's remarks on these private test results. They're basically generic comments.

I've had the same thing, my TSH is always either <0.005 or 0.01 and even when my FT4 has been 12.8 (12-22) I've had the same comments!

So if your going to show these results to your GP then just print the results, not the comments.

Your doctor doesn't understand thyroid. Once you are on thyroid hormone replacement, it doesn't matter how low the TSH goes. It's low because you don't need it anymore. It won't do you any harm.

The most important number is the FT3, and yours is still quite low, which is why you still have hypo symptoms. Unfortunately, doctors don't understand T3, and think the FT3 is unimportant. But, if you're taking T3, in no way should he be dosing you by the TSH. That is the best way to keep the patient sick! Let him know that you entirely disagree.

Thanks. What do you think would be best to do next? Increase T3, T4, or both?

My personal opinion is that you should increase the T3. :)

Hi Maggie0652. Your results are similar to mine:

Latest Thyroid Function Test (Jun 2017):

Free T4: 14.4 pmol/L (11.00 - 22.60 pmol/L)

TSH: 0.06 mu/L (0.2 - 4.00 mu/L)

Thyroid Function Test (Jan 2017):

Free T4: 14.9 pmol/L (11.00 - 22.60 pmol/L)

TSH: 0.02 mu/L (0.2 - 4.00 mu/L)

These are NHS tests so, of course, no FT3. In defence of my GP, he says that TSH doesn't matter once you're on Levo, so there's a surprise! However, as my FT4 is in range, he has no intention of increasing my Levo (100mcg/day).

I hope you feel better soon!

Have you thought about self-medicating with T3? I bought it privately because I've been ill for 23 years and nobody told me I had hashimoto's or that there was any alternative to levothyroxine only. I only found out when I joined this support group.

Funnily enough Maggie, I'm adding 6.25 mcg of T3 tomorrow morning. I've taken it before, but came off it because I needed to sort out my vitamins!

Not what you're looking for?
