Hi, I am looking for help here. I had been diagnosed with overactive thyroid in Feb 2016 and I have been suffering with breathing problems since last June. My GP sais that I developed ashma but I am still not convinced as my ashma medication isn't helping. I get the sensation that i can't breath properly in my neck. I have asked my endocrinologist and Gps several times to send me on a test to find out if my thyroid is pressing on my trachea. So far nothing is happening and I feel hopeless, frustrated and scared. I am looking for a private doctor who can gelp me to deal with this problem quickly. Can anyone recomend a good one please? And also has anyone else had similar problems with overactive thyroid?
Many thanks

I was just reading your post. Find a new Doctor that will listen. I had the same result 20 yrs ago told I had asthma and anxiety and a swollowing issue were I felt like I couldnt swallow or had to wash it down with drink.... In late 2015 I had a ultrasound on my neck they found mutinodular goiter I had the biopsies to make sure they were benign. The whole time my thyroid was working... in 2016 it had grown in size from 3.2 to 4.3 a matter of 3 months and my doctors decided it was safer to had a total thyroidectomy. in May 2017 i had it removed. It is great no choking feeling when eating or when laying diwn I couldnt get my breath and no waking in the middle if the night feeling Im choking or cant breath.... The anxiety has gone (something i thought I had is miraculously gone after 20 yrs) so relieved... Im not saying this is what you have but I wiuld change my doctor till you find one that listens to you... I am on 200mg of thyroxine for the rest of my life but honestly 1 little pill... I am now looking for a lactose free one but hopefully wgen I go back to my doctor he will gave a alternative.... Good luck do let me know how you go... 😊
It is very good to hear that I am not the only one😏
It is very scarry and sad that you had to deal with the symptoms and anxiety for 20yrs before they did something. But I am very happy to hear that you are feeling better eventually.
I think I will go private and get it sorted as soon as possible. Will let you know how it go and thanks again for replying 😊
I think you should fine a new doctor... Its not good when they dont listen... I had a mri for the breathing. But in the surgeons where I got my thyroidectomy removed are fantastic. Not saying that is what you should do...
That sounds tough and I'm sorry your doctor is not listening. I got the choking when swallowing pain for a while but went on aleo Vera and omega 3 which seemed to address it for me. Now that's not to say they cured me, but I think they helped with the inflammation. Can you request a different doctor in your medical practice?
