Hello. I have an overactive thyroid and lots of stomach problems like diarrhoea , gas, pain, feeling acidic.. At first i thought is to do with my thyroid but I'm on medication for 5 weeks and nothing improved. The only thing has changed is the I'm constipated for the last 3 days. Thank you for answers.

Hi Tony`s idea very good. yes, thyroid may effect the good, especially if too much treatment.or too little If autoimmune disease then a lot of gut problems are also autoimmune, if you have one then more likely.Especially, gall bladder and pancreas.Constipation usually means under treated. However, still very early days, you should have thyroid re tested 6 weeks after starting treatment, TSH T4 and Free T3 and then thyroid treatment adjusted. it takes a long time to be stable and on the correct dose.

I hope this helps. In the mean time ,make sure your fluid level is high, lots of water! Also, as I am sure you know, plenty of green veg and some fruit.

Best wishes,

Jackie

Hi In that case look out for Caeliac disease, autoimmune, very common. A blood test a good idea but not always reliable. If that negative and still having problems the only way is to try the horrible diet!

Also, if you develop a very bad voice etc have trouble swallowing it is important to have an ultra sound, for enlargement and nodules. If positive a biopsy under an ultra sound by a radiologist, routine. Any other autoimmune diseases too are quite common if you have one, you have to wait for them to appear but need to be aware.

Best wishes,

Jackie

Your symptoms are typical of hyperthyroidism but it take a lot more than 5 weeks to have all symptoms to diseappear. After 5 weeks, unless you had a blood test very recently, your dose may not be enough and may need to be increased. Are you on Carbi? Which dose? And how high were your T4 when you were diagnosed?

Not what you're looking for?
