Advice please

I have been suffering from symptoms for months I would say about 18 months now and have had blood tests

7th March

Serum follicle stimulating hormone level 73.1

Serum free t4. 10.6

Serum tsh level 8.28

7th April

Serum free t4 level. 10.4

Serum tsh level. 7.36

Too antibodies 793

I was told after the April results that I was hypothyroidism but the go didn't want to start medication and was advised to go back in approximately 3 months.

I have had my blood taken today and have an appointment for this Friday.

My symptoms are always feeling cold, hair loss, fatigue/tired, poor concentration, depressed, dry skin.

If the go says no to medication can I insist he gives me something as I honestly can't carry on like this.

Thank you

Hellsbells29,

If your TSH is still over range and your TPO antibodies are high your GP should start you on Levothyroxine. Read Dr. Toft's comments in thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/about_...

Thyroid peroxidase antibodies are positive for autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's). There is no cure for Hashimoto's which causes 90% of hypothyroidism. Treatment is for the low thyroid levels it causes. Many people have found that 100% gluten-free diet is helpful in reducing Hashi flares, symptoms and eventually antibodies.

Post your new results and ranges (the figures in brackets after the results) in a new post for comment and advice.
