Have had hypothyroid and hasimoto for 5 years I immediately gained 40lbs and was pretty much bed bound I had to quit my job with no comp I have since not been able to lose the weight and am currently waiting on a referral to an endocrinologist and tips or tricks on weightloss?

You need to know whether your treatment is adequate, for a start. You also need to fix any nutrient deficiencies.

Ask your surgery to give you a copy of your blood test results from the last few years, including the reference ranges.

The things that, ideally, would have been tested are :

TSH

Free T4

Free T3

Anti-TPO antibodies

Anti-TG Antibodies

Vitamin B12

Vitamin D

Folate

Ferritin/iron (or preferably a full iron panel and a full blood count)

CRP and/or ESR (both are measures of inflammation in the body)

Yes these are all important so find out all your results and post and then people here can suggest what you can do to help - many docs leave many hugely undermedicated etc :-)

If you haven't got results, you can ask for a print out from the GPs receptionist
