Hey guys

Not sure sure on these or how to analyse them as never had done before:

CORTISOL (SALIVA) WAKING *23.300 nmol/L 14.00 - 21.00

CORTISOL (SALIVA) 12:00 8.260 nmol/L 4.00 - 9.00

CORTISOL (SALIVA) 16:00 *7.020 nmol/L 2.50 - 7.00

CORTISOL (SALIVA) BEFORE BED *13.120 nmol/L 0.80 - 4.50

I'm hugely glad to be honest as a few years ago before I quit gluten, I had very low levels and failing adrenals. So I suppose at least they're still not low again lol!!

What can cause these patterns and what can I do?

Somehow I'm less stressed at work lol!! Not sure I think it's this though but I do eat more regularly at work. The morning one was before I took my T3 and the morning and late evening is when I am the lowest on T3. Also the hungriest? can any of these make a difference?

The cortisol result bedtime is the one to be concerned about. In normal people our cortisol levels are low late in the day. We follow a cycle where the normal levels are at the highest first thing in the morning & then decreases throughout the day. So the body has hardly any cortisol in it overnight to help us to sleep. The body naturally stats making cortisol around 3am to prepare us for the day. Are you showing any symptoms of high cortisol levels such as rapid un-explainable weight gain; do you have insomnia, high blood pressure, being just some of the symptoms if Cushing's disease. High levels of cortisol will make you want to eat as well.

THe morning one's a little strange to me as I don't feel like I have any energy at all, was still half a zombie when did the test as take me ages to wake up and get going lol!

I've put a few pounds on since adding T4 back in six weeks ago for some strange reason but nothing serious (had no T4 in system for three years)? Blood pressure is lowish at 100/70 although has increased from lifetime of 100/60 but I thought this was good as always had a few symptoms of low blood pressure and has gone up in relation to my heart rate going down which used to be way too fast.

I do go to bed a bit late admittedly but not anywhere near as bad as used to be as used to have an autoimmune sleep disorder which also went when went GF.

I do crave foods sometimes and get really hungry but over all prob a little less than I should some days. Craving bananas like crazy at the mo is the only strangish thing a bit different but potassium levels okay last time I looked lol!

I should add if I took myself to bed earlier, I would have no problems at all going off immediately and only takes me two minutes max to fall asleep :-)

Do you drink coffee, tea or green tea, regular coca cola, eat chocolate? Caffeine will increase cortisol, as will sugar

Wouldn't touch fizzy drinks or coffee with a barge pole, not that much sugar but chocolate specifically maybe - have been eating less recently. Tea, always but always have even with low cortisol. I can certainly try less if I really must lol :-)

I will decrease tea especially in the eves and reduce chocolate :-D
