Hi All, I take my my Thyroxine at about 6 am, how long should I leave it before taking glucosamine and / or Turmeric? I would like to take them at about 8 am with breakfast.

Thank you

You can check any interactions with drugs at the link above. Keep it handy and you can also keep a list you can print out.

Any food or other drugs/supplements should be taken away from Thyroxine. If you take the Thyroxine at bedtime, it makes that easier to do.

It's highly advantageous to take Thyroxine at bedtime. "This study suggests that taking levothyroxine at bedtime results in better absorption than taking it before breakfast. This confirms that taking levothyroxine at different times can result in different levels of thyroid hormones in the blood, emphasizing the need to take it at the same time every day. However, this also confirms that taking levothyroxine at bedtime is an effective alternative to taking it before breakfast." (Source - thyroid.org/patient-thyroid....

Hope this helps!

Well, if my own personal experience applies, I do this: Meds at 6am, same as you, I take my other vitamins, minerals and glucosamine around 9:30am. I am not sure if this is as it should be but I have had no negative symptoms from this. There are some things you should not take anywhere near Thyroxine but glucosamine is not one of them. Now, turmeric I am not sure about, when I finally get serious about that one I think I will take it with dinner, i.e. about 6:00pm. You know, you might get enough turmeric by getting a good Indian meal once a week - that is one of my future plans. There is a related post (to the right ->) that raises some caution about taking turmeric - you might want to go the Indian meal approach, I've never had a negative reaction to a heavenly chicken tikka masala!

Thank you, I shall proceed with caution, taking tablets rather than teaspoons of powder! I have weekly curry already.
