Biotin is in most vitamin B complexes.

One issue with taking biotin on it's own in large doses is that it can cause imbalances in other B vitamins. This is ignoring the other side effects which can include acne and false results on other blood tests.

In regards to when to take it when do you normally take other B vitamins? I take mine with meals.

Have you had your vitamin B12, folate, ferritin and vitamin D levels tested?

If not don't take any B vitamins until they have been done.

Can I draw your attention to the following, biotin taken in large (mega) doses can interfere with tests for TSH, T4 and T3 giving false results (depending on the method the lab uses in the assays):

I'm not sure how long before any scheduled test you should stop biotin, perhaps someone else here knows.

Officially I have seen it stated as 2-3 days. Personally I stop my B complex 4-5 days before test

It's tough when you have to decide whether to have nice hair or zits....
