You need to have a repeat blood test in a few weeks time if you haven't had one already then someone to go through your medical records and investigation to confirm whether your polycythaemia is genetic (primary) or caused by some disease (secondary).

Dehydration is a common cause of high haemoglobin, haematocrit and RBC (polycythaemia). Make sure you drink plenty of fluids in the day or two prior to your next FBC test.
