This freaked out my new doctor and he says I'm to stop taking T3 until my levels drop. I think he's an idiot and I need a new doctor, but anyway can I ask if this number 5.1 is anything to worry about? I feel well...

I'm afraid not. I only have those numbers because I wrote them down when I left the appointment. My new GP is about as paranoid as my old one, I don't have good luck with GPs! That's all the info I have, and even the receptionists give you the third degree if you ask for your numbers now
You have a right to your results so I would certainly get that sorted perhaps via a letter to the practice manager. Can you give more info? We don't know the tests performed and your thyroid medicine dose. I would assume FT3 FT4 and TSH. Hard to comment without the detail.
If you feel well, I would stay on the dose that you are taking. Before the blood tests doctors dosed patients until they were free of symptoms and I can only guess that t3 would have been quite high.
You have a legal right to copies of your test results, under the 1998 Data Protection Act - no questions asked! If they refuse, they are breaking the law, and there are steps you can take to force them to comply. Which would they prefer? Hand them over quietly, or deal with the consequences.
As already said, you are entitled to them. Just bear in mind that they may charge a small fee for printing them out. Some don't, but mine did. I always get my results for everything now!
By the way, my endocrinologist freaked out with my high t3 too, but that's expected when you are on t3 alone. Your tsh and t4 is usually so low to freak them out again too!
What is the range for Free t3? In most ranges in tke UK, that would be an adequate result; in some it would be good. If you are buying your own T3, just ignore him if your Ft4 and Ft3 are under the top of the range and you feel good.
Do t forget the ranges as well. Different labs have different ranges sonmost of us are probably used to different figures so it would be right to comment without knowing yours and we could give you the wrong info unwittingly.
