I have Hypo thyroid which actually should make me gain weight but in my case did not happen. I was diagnosed 1 year aho. Im using 75mg now, 6 months before I used 50mg. I'm 46 years old. I'm very thin now and I want to gain weight. I don't know where it's going wrong. There is also change in my voice since a few months.

Contrary to popular opinion there are quite a few skinny hypothyroid patients. I was advised to eat frequent small meals to gain weight and I found protein shakes in between meals helpful in gaining weight.

If your voice has become hoarse you should ask your GP to palpate your throat and neck to rule out swelling from a thyroid nodule or goitre causing the voice change.

Some of us are thin, I know it's a minority but I am struggling to gain weight and hypo. I would say that as I have begun to take control of my own medication and supplements, my appetite is improving and I am eating really well. I've always been very slim but as my symptoms on levothyroxine became worse I got thin. It's a struggle to gain weight. If you find an answer let me know!
