Are shrivelled finger tips (like they've been in water for hours) a sign/symptom of Hashimotos? I also still have muscle aches/fatigue/weakness and I have hot flushes day and night which I I'm suspecting are menopause other than that I feel pretty well? I'm now on 125mg levo taking all recommended supplements and on AIP diet?

Clairewalker751,

Wrinkled fingertips are a hypothyroid rather than Hashimoto's symptom.

Have you had ferritin, vitamin D, B12 and folate checked? Low/deficient levels can cause musculoskeletal pain and fatigue.

This link suggests folic acid can help with menopausal flushes ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/252...

Clairewalker751,

If your iron is over range you should stop supplementing iron. You should stop supplementing iron 7-10 days before a ferritin test anyway.

Wrinkly fingers doesn't mean you are undermedicated. I've been optimally medicated since 2014 and although my right hand fingers are smooth my left hand fingertips are still a bit shrivelled.

I've never supplemented ferritin/iron so unsure why it is high my vit results from a test in mid April were

B12 410 (140 - 724) I've now started B12 complex

Folate 17.13 (3.89 - 26.00)

Vit D 76.23 (50.00 - 200) I've started supplement

Ferritin 152.3 (13.00 - 150.00) I hadn't supplemented with anything before these tests? I've also had an increase in levo since this test as my TSH was still 3.85 (0.27 - 4.20)

T4 was 91.7 (59.00 - 154.00)

T3 4.16 (3.10 -6.80)) Thanks in advance clutter

Clairewalker751,

VitD >75 is replete so you don't really need to supplement until the Autumn.

B12 and folate were good.

High ferritin can indicate non-specific inflammation somewhere in the body. Yours is very mildly elevated, not worth worrying about, and could have been caused by a cold at the time of testing.

TSH 3.85 should come down after the dose increase. I'm not familiar with total T4 so I can't comment and I think you may have made an error in the T3 range if it is supposed to be FT3.

Yes sorry clutter i edited my error on T3 it was 4.16 (3.10 - 6.80) should I stop the B12 too do you think?

Clairewalker751,

4.16 was a bit low in range. It should be higher after the dose increase.

No need to stop supplementing B12. It's fine to have B12 high in range.

Thank you clutter :-) guess I'm going to have to further investigate regarding my muscle pains?

Clairewalker751,

You could try supplementing magnesium citrate and using magnesium oil spray on aching muscles. Epsom Salt baths are good muscle relaxants too.

Ive already started magnesium supplement and Epson salt baths but haven't heard of spray I,ll look into it

Sometimes, your body will deliberately remove iron from your blood as a reaction to other issues such as inflammation and store it which will make your ferritin level out of range so might be worth a a full iron panel to check if any issues re iron deficiency?

Just to rule out the obvious in regards to your fingers, are you getting enough water?

My CPR came back as low no signs of inflammation ? And yes I drink shed loads of water with fresh squeezed lemon?

Not what you're looking for?
